Farmers training report on fruit candy processing
The hands- on training of Kalapang farmers group, Salinggeog, MongarDzongkhag was organized from 4th January 2017 to 6th January 2017 at KalapangLhakhang. They grow different fruits such as papaya, pineapple, passion fruit, banana, guava etc. in these villages, however, there is no market for excess production and processing knowledge is very limited. The training is funded by the SDF through the project "Post Harvest Management and Value addition of fruits in production catchments in SAARC countries."
The training was mainly on Papaya candy processing mainly to enhance income generation. The training focused on providing hands on training on the techniques which the farmers can easily adopt and apply on the daily lives. The processing training was mainly on papaya candy processing.
During the three days training participants were briefed on the importance of personal sanitation and cleaning of dryer using wet cloth. Drying papaya candy at 550C, Sweating of candy before packing were also being explained. And packaging of product were also being demonstrate and explain the reason for the product to be pack in proper packaging materials and keeping the candy at dry and cool place.

The training was successfully completed on processing of papaya candy processing and hope more than 50% of the participants will take up the technology and agreed to processing continuously and display during exhibition at Gyelposhing during Gyelsey birth day celebration.
