Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Visited the SDF Secretariat

His Excellency Mr. Yang Houlan handed over the second Voluntary Contribution of USD 300,000 from People's Republic of China to Mr. Karma, Chief Executive Officer of SDF and said that the People's Republic of China is happy to see the efforts made by SAARC Member Countries towards stronger regional cooperation. This Voluntary Contribution is intended to support SDF's efforts towards regional integration.

Focus Group Discussion on Post Harvest Management & Value Addition of Fruits in Production Catchments in SAARC Countries

A Focus Group Discussion was held at the SDF Secretariat Thimphu participated by the SDF Officials and relevant stakeholders of the project from the participating Member States. The common activity budget was developed and finalized. It was decided that SDF will create a network Portal dedicated to Post Harvest project. All relevant documents will be uploaded in this Portal with access to all the Post Harvest Project Managers.

Capacity Building Training at SEWA

SAARC Business Association for Home Based Workers , SABAH Pakistan sent 11 Home Based Artisans to Ahmedabad, India to receive training at SEWA. Artisans from Sukkur, Quetta, Thar, Haripur and Rawalpindi were trained to improve their skill set along with increasing work capacity. The artisans were taken on exposure and field visits to various business centers operated by SEWA. Training was also given to enhance the leadership skills of SAARC Business Association for Home Based Workers, SABAH Pakistan's artisans.
