Curriculum Vitae of Mr. Dorji Wangdi
Professional experience:
Mr. Dorji Wangdi is the designated Assistant Director at the SAARC Development Fund (SDF), overseeing the Social Entrepreneurship Development Program (SEDP) of eight SAARC countries.
Mr. Wangdi has eighteen years of significant working experience in promoting social justice and human development through social policy, community based interventions, international cooperation, education, research and training. He headed the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Bhutan as the National Program Coordinator and led the implementation of the first ever Human Trafficking Project. He worked with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as a Program Officer overseeing youth and social protection programs under the Governance and Poverty Portfolio. Prior to working with UNDP, he worked with United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) in promoting child rights and protection. He led the initiative of developing systems approach to child protection in the country. He also worked with the Save the Children, on the promotion of economic activities focused on empowering the youth, women, and children and in the area of adolescent development and child rights.
He has a rich expertise in the areas of planning, designing, resource mobilization, implementing, monitoring and assessing projects and programmes. He has worked on diverse and intersecting issues and has experience working for both the donor and implementing agencies including government, non-government, civil society and religious organization. He has hands-on experience in programmes and projects and in working with the decision makers, planners and key stakeholders including local leaders and grass root people.
Mr. Wangdi holds a Masters Degree in Management of Development (MoD) with specialization in Social Inclusion, Gender and Rural Livelihoods from the Van Hall Larenstein, Wagenigen University in the Netherlands; Bachelors Degree in Commerce from St. Josephs College, North Point and Post-Graduate Certificate in Project and Program Management and Administration from the Management for Development Foundation (MDF), Training and Consultancy, Ede, the Netherlands.
Mr. Wangdi, has also authored and published a book on Gender differences in juvenile delinquency and the influence of socialization.
