Project Detail Activities:
Establish 200 Union Information and Services Centers in Bangladesh
Establish 50 Community Centers in Bhutan
Establish 50 Community e-Centers in Maldives
Establish 81 Community e-Centers in Nepal
Project Recent updates:
Project management unit set up in all four countries;
Construction of 46 Community Centers in Bhutan completed, furnished, equipped and operational.
50 CC operators recruited and provided 2 rounds of trainings in Bhutan;
122 UISC operators are trained in Bangladesh;
2 Community e Centers (CeCs) are operational in Maldives;
Civil works completed in 15 CeC islands and civil works in progress in 21 CeC islands in Maldives;
Site selection and operator selection for 87 CeCs completed in Nepal;
Recruitment process for a long-term ICT consultant completed in Nepal;
Officials of SDF, Lead Implementing Agency and Implementing Agency of Bangladesh had a two day meeting and project visits on 20th and 21st November, 2012. Project implementation issues clarified and activities and budget reviewed and revised within the approved budget limit. With the same budget Bangladesh will cover 200 Union Information Service Centers (UISCs);
Procurement of equipment for 200 UISCs is in process in Bangladesh ;
Officials of Lead Implementing Agency of the project i.e. Department of Information Technology and Telecom, Royal Government of Bhutan visited CeC Nepal in January, 2013 to orient the new Nodal officer of the project and discuss on key implementation issues of the project;
First Project Steering Committee (PSC) Meeting of the project held in Bangladesh on 22nd – 25th July, 2013.
